CBRCians give away bagsof hope to elementary kids

CBRCians fl ooded the ever busy G, Tolenti no Street as they greeted the kids at Juan Luna Elementary School with a
back-to-school treat.

Some 553 bags were handed out to students – from kindergarten to grade three – who do not have bag on the first dayof the school due to their families’ financial difficulties.

Some 300 CBRC students from secti on U, C, M, J, V, T, E, and N collaborated handling out 276 bags in the fi rst roundof the “bags for Kids” project. In the aft ernoon some 100 reviewees from secti on B, R, S, DL and A distributed the remaining 277 bags to the pupils of said elementary school.

The “bags for Kids” project is a corporate initi ati ve of the Carl Balita Group of Companies, having CBRC as its arms, to support the cause for universal primary educati on, which is the second foremost goal in the list of United Nations eight Millennium Development Goals.

“It has been a traditi on of CBRC to give bags to Juan Luna Elementary School when classes start. Alam naman kasi
nati n pakiramdam ng pumapasok ng walang bagong bag. Ang daming bata dun walang bagong bag” Janus De Leon, project manager of the bags for kids project said.

Every season, CBRC conducts outreach acti viti es to Juan
Luna School. It can be recalled that during the previous season, CBRC has conduct series of feeding program to identi fi ed pupils of Juan Luna Elementary school.

“Ang Daming mga bata dun plastic lang talga lalagyan ng gamit or brown envelope. Tinatago pa nga nila kapag pumapasok kami ng room” he added.

It’s only a small step, but if you look at the deeper meaning of the project, it’s more on teaching each CBRC reviewee the importance of being socially aware and acti ve and giving back your blessings to the least person in the community.

The busy street was not only fl ooded with young hopeful nurses in violet, but also with the bright and hopeful smilesof pupils who have their new bags jumpstarti ng a new school year.
